The idea of +1 Philosophy was born on Christmas Day 2021 in Miami Beach, Florida. Two of Nanaba's founders were at home, far from families, from traditions, from everything that is taken for granted on Christmas Day . So why not prepare a good Christmas lunch and share it with some good friends? And so we did. We got to work and prepared about twenty complete meals, including panettone. Then we went to distribute them to homeless people. We had never celebrated any other holiday with so many friends. Some of these friends will remain in our history forever. Just to share a story, we left a lunch box, including pasta, fruit, water and panettone near a homeless who was sleeping in the shade of the bougainvillea at the New World Center. When he woke up we were still around there handing out other baskets, this guy, seeing his Christmas lunch there next to him, looked around in disbelief trying to understand how that gift had materialized in front of him. But the answer didn't come and so, raising his lunch to the sky and laughing with pure joy, he thanked his god. This is the +1 Phil, the philosophy of +1. We just have to learn to do one little thing more for others. A single person's +1 has its snowball effect. It is said that the flap of a butterfly's wings can cause a hurricane on the other side of the world. This phrase from a famous film reflects a concept similar to +1 Phil. Let's take another excellent example, the famous "suspended coffee" caffe sospeso in Naples, Italy. We suggest you learn more about this splendid tradition to discover what a simple coffee can give rise to. As well, take a look at our Spaghetto Sospeso. We certainly didn't invent the +1 Phil, it already exists all over the world, Nanaba is just trying to do its small part. Shortly after, 2 more friends joined us who are now the other two founders of Nanaba. Since then, about once a month, we prepare about thirty complete meals and distribute them around Miami to homeless or anyone in difficulty. A flap of wings that turns into oxygen for us and fills the bellies of other people. From these experiences, Nanaba was officially born in April 2023. As of today, Nanaba has distributed approximately 450 meals. Nanaba aims to prepare and distribute complete meals for those who are defined as the less fortunate, to banish tables and prepare excellent meals in orphanages, shelters and other similar structures or similar organizations. One of our founders is a famous architect and interior designer in Miami who loves her job, so we wondered how to get the +1 out of this. Nanaba is starting to collaborate with the Section 8 houses reality by offering design projects and purchasing furniture to ensure that the people who live there can live in a more welcoming, more functional and also more beautiful home.
